Life is What Happens

Working full time is tough on the book project.  I just got full time hours one year ago and it feels good to have more financial ease.  And it means less free time for my book.  I know it’ll get done, I have faith in myself, and yet it seems further away somehow.

In looking back over the year, I need to remember that I did get my website done, and wrote some blogs, and whipped up a special Facebook page for my book.  I admit that I’m avoiding learning more about Twitter, but I have an account.  I also worked through some tricky, gunky emotions from my past and figured out my own part in some problems, and I’m here to tell you that doing those things is good for getting rid of blocks to productivity.  And yes I feel like I’m only inching forward, but the crucial word is forward.

Typical medical concerns turned up, so I’m feeling a bit old.  I developed a life diet (= one I can live with in the long term) and lost some weight (during the holidays!).  I supported my sweetie in her breaking free of poetry angst and she wrote the best poetry she’s ever written.  I helped some friends laugh (and also laughed at myself), I walked my dog a few times a week (not as much as he wanted, but he loves me anyway), and, through it all, I have some really wonderful friends and a great partner, so, in general, life is good.

Now that I have a good “platform” for launching my book when I publish…  I’ll be doing whatever it takes to get my book out.  It’s going to speak to a lot of people about suffering abuse as a child and forgetting about it for many years.  It’s about my wilderness experiences helping me break the memory wide open so that I could heal, and I believe that would be inspiring.  Anyone who would like to know more about wolves and wildlife field studies would definitely enjoy it.

So I’ll finish up now so I can work more on my book…

Except now that the sun is coming out on this blustery January day in Oregon, I need to walk my dog first.
